DFTA West Coast Regional Meeting Nov 30-Dec 1

logo tierra y libertadYou’re invited to the first ever West Coast regional meeting of the DFTA in Tacoma, WA! We’re kicking it off with a welcome dinner on Nov 30, and then we have an exciting agenda for Dec 1! Discussions include the role of certifications in serving the most marginalized in the agricultural and food system, immigration policy, the DFTA’s promotional week and the value of fair trade in the market, and how we can support each other as DFTA members.

All are welcome even if you aren’t based on the West Coast! Registration fees are based on a sliding scale and will help us cover the costs of food, the space at the organization Centro Latino, and free registrations for community members who otherwise would not be able to attend.

This year we are giving our Domestic Fair Trade Award to Familias Unidas for la Justicia, the independent farmworkers union in Washington state, and Cooperativa Tierra y Libertad, a farmworker-owned berry coop. Join us for our welcome dinner on Nov. 30 at 6pm to help us honor them.

On Saturday Dec 1, speakers include leaders from Community to Community Development; Jason Freeman from Organic Trade Solutions; and Joann Lo from the Food Chain Workers Alliance.

Thank you to our sponsors: Community Food Coop of Bellingham and Farmer Direct Organic Foods Ltd.

We’re also looking for sponsors so if your organization or business can sponsor, please email Joann Lo, the secretary of the DFTA board: joann@foodchainworkers.org.
